There can be nothing more exciting, nor as motivationally inspiring than to be recognised as a Champion, a winner, or to be held in high esteem as an example.

Within Toastmasters we are all winners for we are continually gaining and growing in stature as we week by week, improve our communication and presentation skills to higher and higher levels.

Regardless your reason for joining Oshawa Toastmasters, no matter your goals, you will always be given encouragement each step of the way on your journey of discovery.
Recognition plays a major role within Oshawa Toastmasters for it is only by recognition that we grow and can find areas of improvement.

Each week we recognise those Toastmasters who meet the criteria for recognition. The decision as to who wins is at the discretion of the membership on a blind vote.
Our Award Categories are:

Table Topics
Awarded to the one individual who the members believe had the most originality, and dexterity in talking about a surprise topic for 60 seconds.

Spark Plug
Much fought for, this fun award recognises the one individual whom, in the opinion of the membership generated the most energy, controversy, and life into the evenings Business Session.

Best Speaker
There are many highlights to an evening with Oshawa Toastmasters, especially when it comes to our prepared speech section. These are sometimes humorous, hilarious, serious, and even thought provoking, but no matter the category they are always of the highest quality. At the end of the evening, whoever achieved the most votes gets the trophy.

Best Evaluator
Although Toastmasters is about "talking" it is also about listening, how can you talk effectively unless you listen. Also as a speaker you need input so that areas of improvement might be identified. The best evaluator therefore, again by membership vote receives the award.

Yearly Award Programmes

Each year Toastmaster Clubs around the world celebrate their Charter Nights, which recognize the anniversary of when they were welcomed as a fully-fledged Toastmasters Club - Chartered.

It is during this evening of celebration that we recognize those Toastmasters who did an outstanding job throughout the year.

Many of the Awards are as above, with the trophy's being presented to the individuals who won each category the highest number of times during the year.

In addition we recognize the Toastmaster who improved the most during the year, plus our Toastmaster of the Year, being the one person who contributed more to the club than any other individual.

We now highlight these many winners in recognition of their achievement.
